T. Frank Sharp

Firefighter T. Frank Sharp, age 50, of the Charleston Fire Department, died on March 4, 1949, when the floor collapsed during a fire at the Woolworth’s Department Store.

Frank was the driver at Engine 2 and a member of the Charleston Fire Department for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Sadie; his two sons James William and B.L. Sharp; his daughter Mildred Lee Sanders; his brother L.E. Sharp; and his sister Anna Sharp.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
