Thomas G. O’Hagan‚ 43‚ lieutenant‚ FDNY‚ Engine 6. A 20-year veteran who came to Engine 6 after his promotion to lieutenant‚ he was a long-time member of Engine 52 in Riverdale. He was known as a superb cook and bartender. O’Hagan had given up his second jobs bartending and running a cookie route to devote himself to his family when his wife gave birth to their twin boys.

On September 11, 2001 I had heard of
– Carol Jaslowitza local Firefighter from Riverdale that died a hero saving people. I felt this overwhelming feeling that I had to pay my own tribute to him. I wasn’t a very good commuter at the time. Suffered from anxiety. But I got on a bus to go to the funeral service. Turned out I was on route to the wrong church. I got back on the bus and made my way to the Funeral home on Riverdale Avenue. When I arrived I never saw anything like what was happening there. Hundreds of people, police, firefighters all paying tribute to Thomas O Hagan. It’s a moment in time I will never forget and I never felt so proud to have known of just one of the hundreds of heroes that lost their lives on that tragic day. May he be resting in peace as well as all the other people that passed on that day

I recently participated in the Climb at CitiField for the NFFF – Lieutenant Thomas G. O’Hagen was the hero I was climbing for. I thank him for his service and pray that he is resting in peace.
– Kathy CravinhoI made a memory quilt for Tom’s surviving family members in late 2001, anonymously. It seemed the least I could do for such a sacrifice. My friend Doris Roberts machine quilted the quilt for me, a labor of love. Both Doris and I pray that our gesture gave at least a little comfort to the family to know Tom’s sacrifice made a difference in both our lives.

this morning my soccer team and i payed tribute to the 343 fallen first responders on 9/11. at 6:45 this morning we climbed 1,980 steps, equivalent to the 110 stories of the world trade center. lieutenant thomas o’hagan was the hero i was climbing for.

– Michelle DealI have recently just visited the 911 memorial on the 2nd of December 2021 with my family. There was a evacuation. On leaving the building, not knowing what had happened, we gathered outside and realized we wouldn’t be going back in that day. There must have been 10 fire engines arrive at the scene. When we walked past the engines I took a few photos. Now back in Sheffield, England and looking thru the photos I’d taken a picture of engine 6 !!! All gave some some gave all. Lt. Thomas O’Hagan, FF Paul Beyer, FF Thomas Holohan, FF William Johnston. I found this very touching and just being in the memorial area puts things into prospective . . all heroes R I P god bless we will never forget xxxx
