Fire Marshal Todd G. Gagnon of the Cromwell Fire District, Local 4662, died on May 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Hospital after a brave battle with occupational esophageal cancer.
Todd was born on August 1, 1961, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Donald and Dorothy Gagnon. His family moved to Plainville, Connecticut, where Todd graduated from high school and in 1986 moved to Cromwell, Connecticut. In 1989, while attending trade school, Todd joined the Cromwell Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. After completing trade school as a master electrician, Todd’s 26-year career as the Cromwell fire marshal began in 1994. Todd ceaselessly educated himself throughout his adult life, acquiring his Assistant Building Inspector certification in 2007.
Todd was an adventurer who traveled throughout North America as a member of several BMW motorcycle clubs. He loved to spend time at his Vermont home. Todd also raised and trained some amazing dogs.
Most of all, Todd loved God and his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margit; his children, Krystal, Nathaniel, Nichole, Ethan, and Tyler; stepchildren, Theresia and Johnathan; and his eight grandchildren, Giuliana, Nicholas, Owen, Sonny, Isla, Dylan, Gavin, and Kailee.
Todd will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend, and fire department professional. We thank God and are blessed to have had the privilege of Todd in our lives. We are all better for having known him. He will always be deeply missed.
