I was only 8 years old when my father died in the line of duty‚ so I can only provide the information I was aware of at the time‚ and the info I have aquired over the years.

Victor John Ruth‚ III was a volunteer firefighter for Neptune Fire Co No 1 in Richland‚ PA when he passed. He started his Firefighting Career in Lancaster‚ PA running with the Millersville Fire Department‚ Station 6-5‚ with my grandfather who also was a firefighter with Millersville. I now am a member of Millersville myself.

My dad was well known in the community for his dedication to helping others‚ and for being a very outgoing person. I am not sure if he had received any awards or honors‚ but he was serving his first term as President of Neptune when he passed. My dad was an electrician for the Sterling medicine plant in Lebanon‚ PA. He liked to hunt and had a strong interest in firearms.

My father is survived by myself‚ my sister Amy‚ my mother Suzette‚ my step-mother Betty and two step-sons Justin and Andy. He also is survived by his father Victor John Ruth Jr.

I remember growing up around the fire department and dreaming that one day I would be like my dad. Hopefully I will make him as proud as he has made me.
