I was on your crew. We had fought the Wheeler Fire down in Ojai earlier in the summer. Wow! Our whole crew got caught up Matilaja (sp?) canyon and were almost all burned alive. I just wanted you to know that you have not been forgotten. Your entire Max II Crew respected you, your attention to detail, your intelligence, and thoughtfulness. You were the most careful guy on the entire crew, and it doesn’t make sense that the root ball suddenly decided to roll. My thoughts are with you and you will always be remembered. Thank you for being a friend, crewmate, and a really good person. You have been missed. This planet needs more guys like you.
