Father of 5, Sherrie, Michael, Jana, Julie & Marci. Bill was loved by all he met.
His friends were from varied walks of life, rich, poor, no one was lonely when Bill was near, he drew people into conversation and quickly made everyone feel at ease.
On the day he died he was on his 3rd call of the day for the Donald Fire department. Bill was holding a young girls hand as the jaws of life were used to free her from a vehicle that had been hit by a train.
Bill could be heard on the radio asking for a life flight helicopter for this young girl who was clinging to life.
In his voice over the radio the urgency and dispare could be heard as he was told no chopper was available. He pleads again.
The dispatcher says “we have a ambulance on route…best we can do”.
Bill replies “we need 2”
As the young girl is placed in the first ambulance Bill collapsed.
The father of 5 that would do anything for friend or loved one traded places that day with a young girl that miraculously survived.
We have always been so very proud of you and we miss you everyday dad
