William N. Jones, Jr

William Nathaniel Jones “Junior” was born in Iva,SC July 2 1943. He attended Crescent High School. In 1960, he married Frances Caroline Lewis-Brady. They had 2 children, daughter Robbie Lynn and son Phillip Nathaniel.

He was a charter member of the Iva Fire Department. He became Iva Fire Chief in 1981 and served as the Chief until his death.

While he was Chief, he led the fundraising campaign to purchase a new salvage truck as well as a state of the art grass truck used to fight brush fires. He served on the Chiefs advisory committee and was Chairman of the Anderson County Fire Chiefs Association.

He died on November 22, 1992 while fighting a kitchen fire on Johnny Long Rd in Iva. He left behind his wife, 2 children, 3 grand children Tonya Lynn Carnes and Colby and Haden Jones as well as his sisters Lucielle, Bertha Geraldine, Patricia, Sandra, and Edith.

He was laid to rest at the Iva City Cemetery with full firefighters honors.
