Courtney has spent the past year concentrating on implementing psychotherapy and researching the impact of diagnoses on marginalized children and adolescents through advocacy for children’s mental health utilizing assessments, trauma and grief services, and child-centered play therapy. She continues working toward obtaining a doctoral degree, with a goal of becoming a child clinical psychologist within the juvenile justice system.
Courtney works part-time through a work-study program as a teaching assistant within the psychology department where she fosters student learning at the graduate level, and at a Pilates studio which contributes to her overall mental and physical wellness.
Associate Professor Tamara Tasker describes Courtney as inquisitive, driven, conscientious, and ethical in her studies and her work. Senior Program Director Dan Durham, EMT-P, CMTE with Air Evac Lifeteam adds that she “learned firsthand through the death of her father, the need for quality professional counseling and therapy for children.”
