Erin shares that receiving she is thriving as a freshman. After years of preparing through hard work and dual enrollment courses, college has exceeded her expectations, offering a supportive community and engaging academic environment. Her commitment to studying political science remains strong, and she is now considering a double major in Political Science and International Relations with a minor in Communications. Inspired by her father’s 20 years of service in the fire department, she hopes to help others through government and policy work.
Beyond academics, Erin is deeply involved in the arts and the fallen firefighter community. She has performed in multiple musicals, sings with Gophertones and the Goucher choral society, and continues her long standing commitment to theater and choir. She leads the Gettysburg Light the Night project, connecting her hometown with the fallen firefighter community, and volunteers annually with NFFF events. Now old enough to return to the Fallen Firefighters Kids Camp as a Big Buddy, she looks forward to giving back in a meaningful way. When home, she helps care for her family and works at a local restaurant.
Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue Services Fire Chief, Thomas E. Coe says that Erin is an intelligent, engaged and caring young lady who thrives in both scholastic achievement and extracurricular involvement. Associate Professor Charlee Sterling cites Erin’s strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and strong writing skills as characteristics that will lead to her continued success in college.
