Jane plans to return to school to continue her education and complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree. She states that this degree will demonstrate her commitment to the field of nursing by providing quality, evidence-based care to the patients she serves. This is a continuation of her goals that she has been working toward since her husband’s death.

Jane lost her job as a nurse practitioner during the COVID pandemic and had to relocate her family to find new employment opportunities. As a single mother, she continues to support her children’s scholastic and athletic teams by fundraising and providing emergency medical support during events.

Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Wheeler states, “Jane continues to raise her children and be a mentor to them. She has decided to go back to school to continue her husband’s legacy of service by continuing her education in nursing.”
