Senator Paul Sarbanes Scholarship

Scholarship Recipient

Katherine Siller

Major: Veterinary Medicine
Academic Scholarship Years:
Daughter of
Katherine Siller

Katherine is a 2nd year student at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Having a love of animals from a young age, she committed herself to obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree to serve not only animals, but their human counterparts and her community.

Prior to moving to Iowa to attend Veterinary school, Katherine volunteered with various animal rescues and shelters in New York City. In 2019, she expanded her volunteerism and began fostering pigs and animals with special needs from FeLv positive kittens and cleftie pups to paralyzed dogs that were dumped at the clinic where she was a vet tech.

Retired FDNY Lt. and Stephen Siller T2T Foundation Board Member Jack Kielty writes, “Kate is a rare soul who has weathered the storm of sudden loss of her dad, and in that loss, found a way to do something good and meaningful with her life. Her passion for animals has brought her to Veterinary school, and her compassion has led her to work with the neediest of animals. The world would be a much better place with more Kate Sillers in it.”

Katherine’s previous scholarships were made possible with support from the
Motorola Solutions Foundation.
