Taylor‚ 54‚ a division chief and 31-year veteran with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department who is credited with launching the careers of many division employees‚ died on May 16‚ 2000‚ of cardiac arrest. He was paramedic/EMT instructor for more than 20 years and was a Marine Corps veteran.

Michael K. Yahraus‚ 32‚ a 13-year career firefighter/paramedic with the Sarasota County Fire Department‚ died of injuries received during a training exercise on September 12‚ 2000. He was completing law enforcement certification to become a SWAT medic for the Sarasota Police Department.

George A. Burton‚ 49‚ a pilot for the Florida Division of Forestry for nine years‚ died in a helicopter crash while fighting a wildfire on June 4‚ 2000. He was a Vietnam veteran and a flight instructor for 21 years with the U.S. Army.
David T. Nall
David T. Nall‚ 40‚ a four-year veteran with the Town of Jay Volunteer Fire Department‚ died on August 26‚ 1999‚ after collapsing at the scene of an emergency medical incident. As Assistant Chief‚ he started a junior firefighter program and began an Explorer Post in the department. He was also a member of Santa Rosa County Search and Rescue.

Marvin Maurice Bartholemew‚ 30‚ a four year career firefighter with the Pensacola Fire Department was attempting rescue operations when he became trapped in a house fire and died on November 25‚ 2000. He was searching for the residents‚ unaware they had already escaped.
Richard ‘Keith’ Rice Sr.
Richard ‘Keith’ Rice‚ Sr.‚ 38‚ Assistant Chief of the Nassauville Volunteer Fire Department‚ died when the apparatus he was driving overturned en route to the scene of an illegal burn on March 28‚ 1998. A jet mechanic for the Air National Guard‚ he had received several service medals during his career.
