Ronald W. Russell

On July 6th‚ 1991‚ Lt. Ron Russell was on the scene of an EMS incident and was assisting other crews in loading a patient into a helicopter for emergency transport to the hospital. Lt. Russell suffered a heart attack on the scene. He survived the heart attack (in large part to the care provided by his crew from Station 20)‚ and lived over 3 years before he died from medical complications due to his heart attack. Lt Russel died on July 24th‚ 1994.

Jim passed away while on a training mission at the State Fire Collage in Ocala. He was employed by the Spring Hill Fire Rescue District in May of 1988 as a Firefighter/EMT. At the same time he was attending the Florida State Fire Collage‚ earning 48 collage credits in just 30 months and maintaining a high A average. He then completed the Paramedic Program in July 1990 still with a high A average. He also taught numerous CPR and EMT classes and was very dedicated to his work. He was the proud father of two sons‚ Jimmy and Jeffrey.
