More About the Tribute

The Montana State Firefighters Memorial in memory of all the Montana firefighters that have given the ultimate sacrifice and died in the line of duty protecting the Treasure State, its communities, and people. This memorial not only pays tribute to Montana firefighters, the diameter of the memorial circle is 343 inch which honors the 343 firefighters who died on September 11, 2001.

Created in 2003 by Governor Judy Martz, a ground breaking for the Memorial was held on June 11, 2004. The Memorial was built and expanded into Memorial Park between 2004 and 2017. Additional fundraising efforts are underway to maintain and improve the memorial grounds.

Each year, Montana holds it’s annual memorial service on the second Saturday in June. Names are added to the Memorial so they are remembered and their sacrifice is never fogotten.
