Garry Briese IAFC Safety Performance Award

The 2018 Garry Briese IAFC Safety Performance Award was awarded to Chief John Butler, Howard County (MD) Department of Fire and Rescue Chief John Tippett, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation on August 8, 2018.

Chiefs Butler and Tippett have made career-long efforts and significant contributions to the overall environment of health and safety not within their local organizations, but also nationally throughout our profession. Their thought leadership and dedication are influencing future generations of fire officers and firefighters in a proactive and powerful way.

The Garry Briese IAFC Safety Performance Award (Co-sponsored WHP Training Towers and the Safety, Health, and Survival Section) is presented annually to an IAFC SHS Section member in recognition of personal commitment and achievement in the area of health and safety.
