Tulon Goodwin‚ 50‚ a 10-year employee of the Alabama State Forestry Commission‚ suffered a fatal heart attack on July 6‚ 1998‚ while fighting a wildfire in West Blocton started by children playing with fireworks. Goodwin was also the Assistant Fire Chief of the West Blocton Fire Department for 12 years and served for 4 years as a city councilman in the Bibb County town.
