Danny Strong joined the Franklin Square &Munson Fire Department in October 1963. He was assigned to Floodlight & Rescue Co. No. 1 and served as lieutenant for six years and captain for five years. He was an active member of the department for over 25 years and very involved in training the probationary firefighters. Danny was a decorated member of the New York City Police Department for over 25 years. On February 28, 1989, Captain Strong answered his last alarm. The department answered three rubbish and malicious fires that night and Danny had answered each one of them. At 4:00 am, the department received a call for a shed fire on Fenworth Blvd. During that call Captain Strong suffered a fatal heart attack.
