Alan Hansen, a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a patrolman with the Arizona Department of Public Safety as well as serving with the Fire Department. He died of burns sustained trying to help an unconscious firefighter. Eleven acclaimed firefighters, two members and nine volunteers of the Kingman Fire Department died as a result of a disastrous fire and explosion that ripped apart a railroad tanker car filled with propane gas as it was being off-loaded.
