Allan Tarasiewicz‚ 45‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Rescue 5. For Tarasiewicz‚ an 11-year FDNY veteran‚ becoming a member of Rescue 5 was the culmination of a life spent looking for new challenges. A former Marine‚ he had worked as a coalminer and honed his skills as a scuba specialist. At home in Staten Island‚ Tarasiewicz was working with his wife on the complete renovation of a 100-year old home‚ bought so he would be close to his firehouse.
It was an honor to climb the 110 floors just as you did that horrific day. You were on my mind every step!
– Jill SouthIn 2014, I honored you in a stair climb. I trained for 6 months wearing my turn out gear with an SCBA On my back just as you did. May god bless you brother. I’ll see you soon !
– Gary KosinskiHonestly I didn’t know the man, but just wanted to pay my respects, may all of the fallen firefighters rest in eternal peace
– AbelTonight I climbed 110 stories worth of stairs in honor of you and your family. I collapsed on a football field as a Sr in High School 10 yrs ago on 9/12/2014. It was the first responders (Fire, EMT, Police) who saved my life by being God’s Hands getting me to the hospital where the Doctors could take over. Tonight the last 5 flights of stair my memory inspired me to continue. Much Love for you and your family for your ultimate sacrifice
