Andrew J. Hornbuckle

Andrew John Hornbuckle, 59, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away on December 12, 2021.

Andy was a loving husband and father. He was a native of Staten Island, New York, and had recently moved to North Carolina for a beautiful retirement life with his beloved wife, Gina.

Andy was a proud retiree of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and felt honored to be a part of this brotherhood. He served at Ladder 109 in Brooklyn and on Staten Island. Andy was a World Trade Center 9/11 first responder. He retired thereafter to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where his parents lived.

Andy was a member of St. Mark Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed music, golfing, cooking, and going out with his friends and family. Andy was known to be very warm and welcoming and loved hosting pool parties.

From childhood, Andy was a talented basketball player at St. Christopher’s and Moore Catholic High School and was awarded a basketball scholarship to Hilbert College.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hornbuckle; brother, Daniel Hornbuckle; and his son’s mother, Michelle Costagliola.

Andy was the beloved husband of Gina Bertucci and the cherished son of Rosemary Knapp Hornbuckle. He is also survived by his dear son, Andrew Joseph Hornbuckle; stepdaughters, Jackie and Nikki Bertucci; son-in-law, Paul Contreras; grandson, Vincent Bertucci; sisters, Maureen Hornbuckle Drury and Kassie Hornbuckle-Alnwick; and loving nieces and nephews.
