Brian Ellerson was born on October 29, 1952, to the late Robert and Anna (Pat) Ellerson. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army (1972) with an honorable discharge in 1976.
Brian was a dedicated part of the Jersey City Fire Department for 25 years. He was a devoted and loving family man, leaving his wife of 36 years, Gail Ellerson; two sons, Brian and Shawn; daughter-in-law, Christina; and two grandchildren, Brian Patrick and Mara Rae. Also surviving are his brothers, Glenn Ellerson and his wife, Maureen, and Mark Ellerson and his wife, Lorraine. Both Glenn and Mark are retired Jersey City firefighters.
Brian enjoyed fishing with his sons and gardening. He took so much pride in creating the most beautiful flowers in his yard and the most beautiful lawn in the neighborhood. Listening to his favorite musicians, especially Steely Dan, was also one of his pleasures.
Brian coached both his sons’ baseball teams and enjoyed going to sporting events that his sons participated in. His son Brian was a minor league baseball player, and Shawn was an All-State football quarterback. Brian never missed a game that his sons played in.
The most gratification to Brian was being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren. That fulfilled his life.
Brian departed this earth on September 16. 2010. He is missed dearly by his family and friends.
