Brant was referred to by many as a fireman’s fireman. He was trained and taught many of the firemen in the Forsyth County Fire Department and for the Gwinnett County Fire Department which he also worked for full time. He was big in fire safety class at schools.

Brant was killed in an apartment fire that was on Lake Lanier in Cumming Georgia. The apartments that were on fire were the same apartments that he helped his father build. Brant fell when the floor under him collapsed. He fell to the bottom with debris falling on top of him. He was able to tell his fellow firefighters about where he was. While Brent was waiting to be rescued he ran out of air and died.

Departments from Gwinnett County Fire Department’s trench rescue team‚ Hall County‚ DeKalb County‚ Fulton County and many other departments had men volunteer to help recover his body. He left behind a wife and two kids.

A few years ago Gwinnett County named an elementary school after him.
