Charles Brehm

Engineer Charles Brehm, 50, of the Columbus Division of Fire, died on September 4, 1917, from injuries he sustained after being struck by fire apparatus at the scene of a fire at the Columbus Bottle and West Side Iron & Metal Companies.

He was a member of the Columbus Division of Fire for 26 years. Charles was also a Freemason.

He is survived by his wife, two stepchildren, and brother.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
