David was known for his patience and kindness‚ as well as his devotion to duty. He was diligent in instructing both children and adults in first aid and CPR. He taught CPR and first aid to City and County employees. Life rescue was a priority in his life. David joined the Fire Dept. on August 27‚ 1990.
He was in the process of taking flying lessons before his death.
His son Kristian was one year old but remembers his dad by pictures and stories that his mother tells him. David’s father Hector Mario Barrera and Sister Ruth Barrera remember him very much.
