Roll of Honor

Captain
Age: 26
Year of Death: 2023

Dillon Rinaldo

Captain Dillon Rinaldo was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, on March 14, 1997. He was raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where he graduated from Fair Lawn High School in 2015. He was an all-around athlete, playing football, lacrosse, and street hockey.

From the age of four, Dillon knew he wanted to be a firefighter. He would follow his dad, Ralph, around Fair Lawn Fire Company #4, where he was a member. Dillon joined Company #4 as a junior at age 16 and knew he wanted to make firefighting a career. At age 18, Dillon took many tests around the country, and in May of 2017, Dillon was offered a job with Baltimore City Fire Department in Maryland.

Dillon left for Baltimore in July of 2017 and graduated in March 2018 as valedictorian of his class. Dillon also managed to get a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in November 2021 from Waldorf University. He became lieutenant of Engine 46 in July 2022 and was an acting captain on October 19, 2023, on his final call. Dillon absolutely loved his job and did it proudly. Dillon was tragically injured on October 19, 2023, and succumbed to his injuries five days later.

Dillon leaves behind his parents, Ralph and Gerri; his sister, Danielle; his loving fiancée, Lauren; his pal Duncan, his beloved black lab; and numerous family members. We take solace in knowing Dillon loved being a firefighter.

Dillon made us all proud every day.
