Toledo Firefighter Donnie G. Cathcart, age 30, who died in the line of duty on May 19, 1981. Private Cathcart was born on November 11, 1950, and appointed to the department on August 24, 1973. He was assigned badge 52. Private Cathcart suffered chest pains while working at the structure fire at 1235 Fernwood Avenue, succumbing to a fatal heart attack the next day. Private Cathcart was assigned to Engine 16 at the time of his death. Private Cathcart was a veteran of the Vietnam War. His daughter, Jessica and sons, Romeo and Christopher, survived him.
