Ernest Alan McElroy‚ 40‚ a career firefighter with the Arkansas Forestry Commission‚ died on October 28‚ 1998‚ from burns he sustained while fighting a forest fire east of Crossett. McElroy‚ an Ashley County Reserve Sheriff‚ was a Forest Ranger II with the Arkansas Forestry Commission and the father of five.
