Assistant Fire Chief Frank Enke passed away at 48 years young after responding to multiple calls on March 28, 1983.
Frank was born in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and was raised in Farlington, Kansas.
Frank had the heart of a servant. He loved to serve his community.
Frank was a full-time firefighter and a part-time police officer, as well as helping on the ambulance service.
Frank had three daughters, Connie, Deanna, and Kathy, who he loved.
Frank enjoyed working, fishing, and hunting.
Frank’s daughters were present at the 31st Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on October 21, 2018, for the unveiling of the memorial and were presented with a Final Alarm Medal from the Southeast Kansas Firefighters Honor Guard to honor their father’s service.
Assistant Chief Enke’s name has been placed on the Kansas Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial in Wichita, Kansas, and the Southeast Kansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial located at the Girard Fire Department.
