George Raber was a devoted husband‚ father‚ and dedicated firefighter. He joined the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department in 1963 and missed only one meeting in the 41 years he served.

He was not only a dedicated fireman‚ but was very active in community affairs. He held the position of President of the school board for a number of years‚ was mayor of Hebron‚ owned the Ford dealership for 30 years‚ was a substitute bus driver‚ and did just about anything that needed to be done.

He had a special interest in hunting and trapshooting.

He was married to his wife‚ Aloha‚ for 45 years and was so very proud of his daughter‚ Lisa‚ and his son‚ Michael. His daughter-in-law‚ Rebecca‚ also held a very special place in his heart.

George died of a heart attack while fighting a prairie fire south of Hebron‚ ND‚ on July 31‚ 2004.

He is survived by his wife Aloha‚ Hebron‚ ND; daughter Lisa‚ Elgin‚ ND; son Michael (wife Rebecca)‚ Fargo‚ ND; brother Rudy Raber (wife Lavern)‚ St. Louis‚ MO; sister Evelyn Ziegler‚ Bismarck‚ ND; and sister-in-law Edna Raber‚ Bismarck‚ ND.
