My father, Peter Kahn, joined the Trumansburg (New York) Fire Department when he moved to Trumansburg at the age of fifty. Being an artist, he specialized in making a series of posters inviting everyone to an endless series of events in support of TFD. A selection of these posters and many of the ones he made for library book sales hangs in the Ulysses Philomathic Library in Trumansburg. My father was trained as a Fire Police when he grew too old to fight fires. He died at the age of 75 of a heart attack while directing traffic at the scene of an accident. His chief and the EMT’s were with him. We are grateful to know that he died as he lived: totally involved in work which was important and meaningful to him.
