Firefighter Harold J. Johnston, 78, of the Fire Department City of New York – Engine 36, died on January 28, 2024, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Firefighter Johnston served with the Fire Department of New York for 29 years. He was also an Army veteran. Before and during his fire service career, he worked as a plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Michael, Amy, and Suzanne; and extended family and friends.
