Harry Christensen

On May 19, 1943, Firefighter Harry Christensen, of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, made the ultimate sacrifice alongside Lieutenant Melvin Lafayette Hatch and Firefighter Theron D. Johnson while battling a fire at the Victory Theater.

Harry had served with the Salt Lake Fire Department for 19 years.

He is survived by his wife Zoa; his two sons David and Vern; daughter Vivian; two brothers Olie and Andrew; and five sisters.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
