  1. My grandfather I never got to meet. I honestly never thought much of it. A few days ago I watched a movie titled “Only the Brave” (2017), and I feel like me seeing that movie by myself in my room was meant to happen. I have heard stories about Jim but once again, never thought much of him. After seeing that movie, I recalled those stories I’ve been told my hole life and now understand what happened to him and the significance of it. I am deeply saddened by how I never truly cared about our family’s loss. I mean, he was literally living in nowheresville Arkansas and had the courage to go fight a fire to protect the families of a state across the country. That is a true hero and I will always remember him as one.

  2. Spent a week with Jim in 1964…talked with his parents in July 2019 for the first time in all those years. They are in their mid 90’s, and they told me about Jim…..
