James Stephen “Steve” Lamp was born in Marietta, Ohio, to James E. Lamp and the late Patricia Lamp on June 6, 1959. Steve was an active member of the Newport Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. For many of those years, he served as the assistant chief and chief.
Steve was a devoted family man and friend, leaving behind his wife of 37 years, Barbara; his twin sons, Justin (Kelsie) and Dustin (Michelle); father, James E. Lamp; brothers, David (Tonda) and Troy; sister, Sharon (Craig) Henegar; sister-in-law, Christy; mother-in-law, Geneva Kiggans; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Since his passing, the family has welcomed his two granddaughters, Lilith and Isabella. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; brother, Michael; and father-in-law, Warren Kiggans.
Steve enjoyed being with his family. He always participated in the motorsports that his sons were involved in, usually as the mechanic and coach. He loved to take care of animals and do his fair share of volunteering at the local animal shelter with his electrical skills. He never turned down a good rock concert. For a quiet individual, he really enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on oil wells, fishing, and shooting. He was also dedicated to his employer for 45 years.
Steve left this earth too soon, but we know he is in good hands.
