Jeremiah M. Lucey‚ 38‚ a nine-year veteran of the Worcester Fire Department‚ died on December 3‚ 1999‚ after being trapped while conducting search and rescue and fire operations in a cold storage warehouse fire. Five other firefighters also died in this incident. Lucey was a member of the Worcester Fire Department Honor Guard and the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Material Team. He also worked part-time at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
