Jesse F. Stewart‚ 73‚ a Chicago Fire Department Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner died on December 1‚ 1997 after being critically injured in a 1985 car accident while responding to an incident. At the time of the incident‚ he was the highest ranking African-American in the history of the department.
