Firefighter John F. McDonnell, known as “Johnny Mac,” served for 30 years at Ladder 116 in Long Island City, Queens. After 9/11, he decided to stay on the job, as so many others were retiring, and he felt that the new and younger firefighters could use a senior man to help guide them.
John was a wonderful husband to his wife of 30 years, Trish. He was a loving dad to his daughter, Meghan, and son, Patrick. He was a true brother to all his fellow firefighters and is greatly missed by all.
