John Goessling

Submitted by his Son

Captain Goessling was hired by the Omaha Fire Department in 1981. He died tragically while on duty at an arson fire in a commercial building. He had 15 years of service as a paid‚ professional firefighter for the City of Omaha‚ NE.

He was a Marine; a Paramedic; an Inspector; the editor of our union newsletter and a Captain for the OFD. He was also a husband‚ father and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife Kandi‚ and his three sons‚ Josh‚ Danny‚ and Nathan.

There is so much to say about Captain Goessling that it is nearly impossible to write it all here.

Thank you‚ Josh Goessling (Firefighter for the OFD)

  1. John was much more than a great firefighter. He was a great man, father and husband. He was great or really good at a lot of different things and if he wasn’t he would learn and master whatever it was. He is missed everyday.
