Firefighter Joseph J. Scaramuzzino, age 61, of the Fire Department City of New York died on May 11, 2024, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Firefighter Scaramuzzino was stationed at Ladder 113 in Brooklyn and retired in 2006. After his retirement, he volunteered as a peer counselor in the FDNY Counseling Service Unit (CSU), where he mentored young firefighters and offered advice from his experiences in life and on the job.
