Joe joined the New York City Fire Department in 1994. He was assigned to Engine 88/Ladder 38 in the Bronx for 7 years. Three weeks prior to the attacks‚ he transferred to Rescue 3‚ fulfilling his lifelong dream.
He was known for his sense of humor and quick wit accompanied by his easygoing demeanor and an ever-present smile.
He loved to work with his hands‚ owning his own contracting business for home renovations and additions while specializing in woodworking and carpentry.
He left behind his wife of 9 years and four young beautiful children ages 9 months to 6 years. He will remain forever in our hearts.
We will never forget, Joe. Always in our hearts!
– Samantha InnesMy Name is Mark Abrams.
When I was in business Joe Spor was my credit advisor at Milliken and Company.
I was shocked and saddened when Joe died on 9/11 for no good reason but the act of a Mad Society.
Joe was a true gentleman and business friend always.
What a terrible loss as the many thousands who died on 9/11.
– Mark AbramsJoe and his loving family were a wonderful part of our community in Somers NY. As a firefighter who became one after being inspired by 9/11 I can’t honor Joe’s sacrifice and the sacrifice his family made enough. May God protect and bless his beautiful family, even twenty years later we won’t forgot his sacrifice and the sacrifice all 343 of his brothers made that day.
