Joseph T. McGuirk‚ 38‚ a member of the Worcester Fire Department‚ died in the December 3‚ 1999‚ warehouse fire‚ while searching for two trapped firefighters. Five other firefighters also died in this incident. A member of the department for two years‚ his extended family has more than 200 years of firefighter service. Prior to joining the department‚ he owned a contracting company.
