  11. I think of Kevin most every morning while waiting for my latte at “Firefighter Kevin Bracken corner” (Amsterdam and 73rd). Raised in a fire department family, I never take for granted the bravery and sacrafice of first responders. But as a
resident of NYC, I am especially in awe of those who served here on 9/11. RIP, FF Bracken.

    – Carole Julian
  12. Kevin and I went to school together (CI Pride). I was shocked when I first heard and my heart broke for your wife. You were taken from us way too soon and so senselessly. My dad was a volunteer in CIFD and I was an EMT for a time. I now work literally a few blocks from where you were snuffed out. I go down frequently because it makes me feel humble and ever so grateful for you and all the firemen police and first responders who selflessly rush in when us civilians are running away. You were a great guy in high school and I fondly remember you and I think of you often. I hope you are at peace but you will always be a hero in my eyes and whenever I see your name etched in the marble my heart hurts. RIP you are sorely missed and should your wife of such a short rime see this I want her to know that when I pray she is always included so she will have the strength to move on. We all miss you.

    – Teresa Montague-Salzan

  20. I had the good fortune of meeting Kevin’s father SGM Hugh Bracken when I was a young cadet in 1991. I had no idea his son was killed on 9/11. The Brackens are everything that makes me proud about being an American. Selfless sacrifice. Lives worthy of the country and the revolution. I’m lucky to live in the same country as these wonderful Brackens.

I stood with your Dad n Mom and so many others from your home town of Central Islip to say goodbye.that day. I didn’t know it until later that day after the services at St’Patricks Cathedral that your body was never found.
They placed your uniform in your casket.
after that day I would always hold out hope that one day you would be found and your parents and family could bring you home. But those months turned into years. Like so many other families who never found closure they have now passed over as well. I hope your mom and dad found your soul amongst the billions of stars that light the nights sky’s. ✨✨✨ Rest Easy ✨✨✨ Never To Be Forgotten
