Kevin John Nolan was born on March 14, 1961, in Bronx, New York, to Matthew and Margaret Nolan. Three years later, his brother Matthew arrived. The family moved to Rockland County, where Kevin attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School and Albertus Magnus High School. He enjoyed playing sports and the lifelong friends he made. Kevin attended Manhattan College, graduating with a finance degree. He eventually moved to Westchester County for his job, which is where he met and married his wife, Delia. They had three children, Jennifer, Gerard (Jerry), and Michael.
Kevin had always wanted to be a firefighter. His desire to serve may have come from being raised by a father who was a New York City police officer and a mother who was a nurse. He got his wish when he joined the FDNY in 1989. He served as a firefighter in Engine 39 and Engine 79, ending his FDNY career at the FDNY Press Office before he retired in 2007. During his time as a fireman, he played on the FDNY hockey team, which he could not have enjoyed more. He loved his job and the camaraderie he shared with his fellow firemen.
Kevin was an avid weightlifter and always started his day at the gym. He enjoyed watching his sports teams and watching movies, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He got a kick out of being called by his nickname, “Mr. Mom.” Kevin was smart, funny, a good friend, father, and son. He is dearly missed by his family and those who knew and loved him.
