Larry Smith experienced a medical event when he was enroute to a fire call as a fire police member on March 14, 1989. He joined the Fire Company in 1981 after moving to the area and his neighbor talked him into it.

Larry was born August 16, 1942 and married Judy Stutzman on December 17, 1961. They had 3 children and no grandchildren at the time of his death. His son, Lawrence Roger Smith Jr pre deceased him by only 5 weeks.

Besides his involvement with the Fire Company, Larry was also a longtime member and vestry member of St Marks Episcopal Church where he could frequently be found taking care of repairs.
