Loren James George

Loren James George was born on August 14‚ 1966‚ in Minot‚ North Dakota‚ to Ernest and Marjorie George. His father died when Loren was only two years old. Loren was the second youngest of four boys and a girl. He attended Minot High School and played trombone in the band and jazz band. He was proud that they took first place in a national competition in Florida in his senior year. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served as an usher there.

After high school he worked at Sun Mart Grocery. Everyone liked him. He was a very outgoing and friendly person. He would do anything for anyone. From an early age‚ Loren was interested in weather and tornadoes. Every time it looked like it was going to storm he would be outside watching the clouds‚ and as he got older he would drive to the top of the hill to watch. He loved to fish and watch his favorite football team‚ the Minnesota Vikings.

For a time‚ Loren was a member of the local dive and rescue team. He also was a volunteer police reserve. He spent many nights riding with our local police officers learning what their jobs were like. While he was a member of the Police Reserve‚ he decided to volunteer for our local Minot Rural Fire Department.

Loren gave his life serving others‚ which was not an unusual thing for him. He lived to love‚ and he loved to live. He was 25 at the time of his death.
