The story has nothing to do with the firefighter pictured above. Manuel Delvalle jr was killed on September 11, 2001 in the Twin Towers at The World Trade Center. You guys may want to look into the account for the aforementioned, Tommy DeAngelis to see if they stories are just simply swapped.

– Nathen DanforthI hiked the colorado red rocks 9/11 stairclimb with manuel’s id tag back in 2015, but somehow lost his tag after the event. Ot turns out that one of our dept members is cousins with Manuel and i had really wanted to give her his tag. At this year’s 2018 stairclimb at red rocks, i found someone who finished the climb with Manuel’s tag and he gave it to me, it meant a lot to be able to finally present it Manuel’s relative.

09/14/24 – Today I walked in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. It was an honor to complete the stair climb wearing the name tag of Manuel Del Valle, Jr., of the FDNY. You are not forgotten and your life mattered. God Bless.
– Chief Don ScheiblerOn September 7, 2024, I climbed the Pierce Memorial Stair climb: 110 stories at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI in honor of this man. Although the climb was tiring and my legs hurt for days on end, I only could imagine the pain that Manuel and his family suffered that day. My heart goes out to the family and friends of those who lost loved ones that day, but especially to Manuel’s. I am 42 years old and to think of the bravery of this young man at the age of only 32 shows how much he loved this country and fellow firefighters. May he rest in peace yet and know that we will remember him each year with this climb.
