  1. Although I have never personally met your family or son, through mutual friends I have heard the heroic story of your husband. It has touched the lives of my self, my family, and my friends. I hope you know that he is on many others minds today and not only your own.

    Sincerely
    A 17 year old kid

  2. I participated in a tower challenge memorial step walk today (9/11/2018) and was given a wristband with your name on it, I found strength in your name which gave me the ability to complete the challenge. I will never forget your sacrifice or the men and women who died that day. Thank you for your service to this great country and may God bless your family and loved ones.

    Never forget 9/11

    – Randy
  3. I participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb that was held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisconsin. The Stair Climb releases 343 participants at a time, each carrying a badge with one of the 9/11 fallen firefighters. I had the privilege to carry the badge of Martin J. Egan, Jr., Captain of Ladder 118. As I rang the bell and stated Martin’s name out loud, I sent caring thoughts to his family.

  6. 09/11/19. I worked for DHS as a K9 handler. My K9 was named after Captain Egan. I always wondered the origin of my K9’s and now I know. Thank you for your sacrifice Captain Egan. You will forever be in my heart. Rest easy brother, I got it from here!

    – Mike Ro
  7. I have done the 9/11 stair climb for two years now. I am a senior in high school, and want to become a firefighter when I am older. On 9/11 this year and last year I had the privilege to wear the badge of Captain Martin J. Egan Jr. on the left pocket of my fireman’s coat. I walked for Captain Egan Jr. and will forever keep his spirit alive and will never forget him! May you Rest In Peace, you will never be forgotten Captain!

    Sincerely,
    Dom

  8. Hi Capt. Egan, I know you’re not here to witness this day but it’s already been 20 years since 9/11. I was just an eighth grader in Math class when I heard the horrific news. Today, fast forward 20 years later, I serve in the U.S. Coast Guard here in NYC! I ran a 5 K in your remembrance and I have a card with your name on it that was given to me. I had to find out who this remarkable man was so I “googled” you and read so many wonderful things you were apart of. I’ll forever keep your family in my heart. —Very respectfully ENS K. Pringle.

    – Ensign K. Pringle, U.S.Coast Guard
  9. It’s Sept. 10, 2022 in Oklahoma, and I am preparing to do the memorial stair climb in Oklahoma City. This year, I was given Captain Egan’s name to climb for. I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT/chaplain on our small town department, and I just want to share what an honor it is to climb for Captain Egan. I also have a son and daughter, and my wife and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary this last June. So, I can’t imagine how hard it was to lose him.

So, all the way from Oklahoma, I just want to say thank you, and let you know that his sacrifice and your sacrifice as a family is still being honored.

  13. Today 9/11/2023 I did my first 9/11 stair climb as the first female Fire Captain in my department and I chose to honor Captain Egan. 14. Today is September 16, 2023. I just registered for a run/walk for Tunnel to Towers. (I was unable to walk as later this next week I am having a hip replaced.) I was given your photo and name. I had to look it up and find out more about you. I wish your family as much peace as possible. I’m sure they still need it even after all of this time. Captain, you and all of the others will not be forgotten.
