Michael K. Healey‚ 42‚ lieutenant‚ FDNY‚ Rescue 41. Healey‚ an 18-year veteran of the FDNY‚ grew up in Massapequa Park‚ where he and his wife met as teenagers. Married for 20 years‚ the couple have three children. When Healey wasn’t fighting fires‚ he coached lacrosse‚ ran distance races‚ and never minded handling the household chores at the family’s Long Island home.

On September 11‚ he wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. That’s what he did. ‘That’s our job‚’ he would have said.

Memorial Wall

  1. I walked in your honor today at the 9-11 firefighter memorial walk in Green Bay Wi. It was an honor to do so in tribute to your dedication and commitment.

  2. I had the honor of walking 110 flights of stairs today ( Columbus OH, Chase building) with Michael K. Healey picture in my hand. I thank him and his family for their sacrifice and their bravery during that tragic day of 9/11. Each step I took today, I had him in my mind and thank him repeatedly. I will never forget his face. Words can’t express how grateful I am for this moment.

  3. I climbed in Denver for Lieutenant Healey in 2013. 110 flights. His picture and card now hang in my gear locker where I see it every morning of every shift.

  6. My future husband was his neighbor his whole life. He told him on that day he’d see him later. Something was going on in the city. He never saw him again. Hes here with me know in Washington state but his life will always be N.Y.. God bless him and everyone that lost their lives that day..
