Mike L. McKean

Mike McKean was the sort of man that you cannot exactly put into writing. He was kind‚ patient‚ gentle‚ and loving. Mike had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. When you met Mike‚ you always knew exactly what he cared about whether it be by the clothes he wore or the stories he would tell. Mike had great determination in achieving great things in his life. The first time I met my husband he had seen me around before and he decided he just had to get to know me.

My husband introduced himself to me by sitting across from a table and making conversation with me. I first thought that he was crazy because I had never spoken to him before and I had no clue who he was. From that day on I cannot recall a day without my husband‚ until he died.

Mike felt so passionate about life; every day was an adventure‚ whether it was taking a road trip or giving our children a ride in the fire truck. Nothing could ever make him take a day for granted.

I remember the first time someone told Mike that he should join the fire department his face lit up with excitement and it never went away. He did everything with the fire department. Always washing the truck‚ filling the supplies or taking the ambulances for maintenance checks. He always loved making sure everything was ready to go.

Mike had a dream to someday be on the fire department with our son. He wanted them to be a father-son team. I wish Mike could fulfill that dream‚ but I know that he will be watching from heaven as our son follows that dream in honor of his father.

The day Mike was killed was a day many of us will never forget. We lost a great person‚ a father‚ a brother‚ a son‚ and my best friend and soul mate.

We appreciate everything you did for us Mike. You will always be greatly loved but never forgotten!!!
