Niel G. “Skip” Frazier

Niel G. Frazier was born on March 7, 1953, in Jamestown, New York, to the late Niel and Katherine Frazier. To many, he was only known as “Skip.” Niel and Brenda were married in December of 1972. Together, they raised six children, Jennifer, Lisa, Elizabeth, Eric, Valerie, and Zachary, and have nine beautiful grandchildren. Neil is survived by four siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Niel was a member of the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. He held all the chiefs positions, was an EMT and truck captain, co-instructed the annual OSHA training, cooked the chickens for the annual department fundraiser, and worked at the fundraiser at the annual town picnic. He participated in the water battles between departments and played on the department’s softball team. Brenda supported him through all these years. At the time of his passing, he held a position on the fire commissioner’s board.

Niel enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was known to be the one to run the grill. He was a member of the Randolph Rod and Gun Club, where he participated in the Trap League and placed in the top ten for many years.

Niel retired in 2015 after working for over 35 years with the Ellington Highway Department. Skip enjoyed umpiring the town’s youth baseball and softball teams years ago and also instructed hunters safety education courses. We miss his contagious smile, his hugs, and the bit of advice he was willing to give. He would help anyone who was in need, no matter the situation.

Skip is missed dearly by all who knew him.
